Here are this week’s four articles that made me think. Feel free to post your own in the comments section. Love to know what you’re learning and what’s making you think!
“Don’t let urgency keep you from your spouse, your kids, creation, or the God who made them all”.
Pastor Janet and Pastor Aaron recently wrote posts about being present where we are and the call of Jesus to come to Him with the what we’re carrying. ask a nurse In that Jesus offers rest and peace. Click to read Tyranny of the Urgent or Heavy Burdened.
“Some families are crowding together for the sake of preserving close-knit neighborhood relationships, especially those forged among children.”
“I suppose the problem is my own. That question actually sucks. Far from a conversation starter, it’s uninspired, overwhelmingly open ended, and frankly, completely boring. So as an alternative, I’ve compiled a list of questions that my kid will answer with more than a single word or grunt.”
I ask my kids all the time, “How was your day?” This is a great list of conversation starters!
“I also believe there are many aspects of this holiday that we have freedom in Christ to participate in. Regardless of how you choose to engage in this holiday, I urge you not to miss out on all the opportunities to disciple your kids that the Halloween season provides.”
I love this because it helps us to think about more than than the candy (let’s be honest…we all have a daddy tax on candy after the kids go to bed right?) or our fears about Halloween and its potential to celebrate evil. Stay safe and I’m praying for your families no matter how you decide to spend your Saturday night!
